With more than 15 years of photographic experience, Melanie Fiander of Fiander Foto offers a professional, fun, and unobtrusive approach to destination wedding photography. Melanie is based out of two unique locations, Bermuda and Washington D.C., although she travels around the globe to photograph weddings.
Shot in both the photojournalistic and traditional styles, her images capture the special and unique moments of your big day, which will be looked at and enjoyed for generations to come. To help ensure that each client receives a fabulous Fiander Foto experience and product, Melanie not only works as a lead photographer but she also handles bookings, personally edits her photos, designs the wedding album or photo book, and offers consultations on any photo-related query.
Melanie’s interest in photography started at the young age of 14, when she would borrow her mother’s camera to photograph her teammates competing at their swim meets. She began working as a photographer when she was 19 while a student at Lynchburg College in Virginia, where she earned her BA in studio art with an emphasis on photography and English with an emphasis on creative writing. Melanie made the next step toward becoming a wedding photographer at age 23, when she earned an MFA in studio art with an emphasis on photography and video from the Maine College of Art in Portland.
Since then, she has enjoyed every moment spent behind the camera and with her clients. Melanie’s work has been featured in Bermuda Wedding & Honeymoon, Bermudian Weddings, How He Asked by The Knot, PDN, The Grey Collective, WeddingWire, United With Love, National Geographic, It Started With Yes, 100 Layer Cake, and Wedding Chicks.
Melanie is available to hire for weddings as well as to shoot engagement, proposal, maternity, newborn, family, and vacation portrait sessions too.
