THE PROPOSAL: We were planning a trip to Bermuda to celebrate Jack’s 60th, and he decided to surprise me with a proposal at a jewelry store in Dockyard. We chose the ring right there as a symbol of our dedication, love, and commitment to each other.
THE PLANNING: We reached out to Faith at Aunt Nea’s Inn, who took great care of us by helping us reserve the inn for the week and making sure it was ready for our stay and the wedding day. Roseli Johnson, who was the inn’s manager at the time, helped keep me calm and cool when working with the different vendors, and she ended up taking our wedding day photos too.
THE LEAD UP: Jack and I arrived in Bermuda three days early to pull together the small details that made our wedding extraordinary. Aunt Nea’s Inn was perfectly set up to allow quiet times as well as gatherings. The “breakfast club” gathered early every morning in the common area sharing stories, laughter, and good eats. At the day’s end we would sit on the spacious porch and enjoy the stunning harbor and garden views while enjoying a cocktail and sharing stories of our day’s adventures.
GETTING READY: Some of the guests enjoyed walks downtown and others went swimming in Tobacco Bay. Jack took his nephews for a walk to Sea Glass beach and got some amazing pictures, not to mention pretty cool pieces of sea glass. On his return, he found time to squeeze in a nap. I stayed at the inn sipping on painkillers, having my hair and makeup done, and enjoying conversations with my daughters and best friend.
THE WEDDING: We were married on the side lawn of Aunt Nea’s Inn under the Moongate adorned with beautiful flowers by Demco. One of Jack’s brothers officiated and his youngest nephew was our ring bearer. One of my fondest memories other than marrying my best friend was my daughters walking me down the aisle, a moment that I won’t forget. It was so meaningful to Jack and me to have some of our closest friends and family there to be a part of our very special day.
THE PARTY: We all walked the quaint, historic streets of St George’s to the majestic St. Peter’s Church, where we gathered on the stairs for a photo shoot. We continued our walk to Tempest Bistro, where we celebrated our nuptials with an incredible feast. Their vast menu allowed our guests to experience some of Bermuda’s finest cuisine and specialty drinks. Our cake was prepared by Glaze Bakery. Following dinner, we all gathered back at the Inn where we continued to celebrate sharing drinks, dance, music, and stories under the beautiful full moon out on the veranda.
THE HONEYMOON: Our honeymoon continued in Bermuda where we explored the island from one end to the other visiting various beaches, restaurants, and historic sites. Following an enjoyable lunch at the Pickled Onion, we found ourselves at Smokin’ Joes, where my friend and I got tattoos.
