As an actress, producer, and humanitarian, Brazilian-born Gabriela Dias is busy to say the least. She decided to make love a priority when she carved out time for a blind date in New York City with Todd Trimmer, who works for an investment bank in the city.
“It was love at first sight,” Gabriela recalls.
Two years after they first met, the couple decided to tie the knot. Despite being wrapped up on a movie set for two-thirds of the month, Gabriela knew she wanted to get married in September. The couple had traveled to Bermuda previously, and they chose the Elbow Beach Resort, where they had stayed during an earlier visit, as the venue for their wedding.
“We needed a place that was beautiful, easily accessible, and somewhere that my guests would love to go as well,” says Gabriela. “I knew I wanted to get married at Elbow Beach, because to me, it’s the most beautiful beach in Bermuda.”
With only two months to plan the wedding, Gabriela immediately reached out to the resort to check availability, and then got in touch with Emily Boden of Bermuda Event Solutions Ltd., one of the resort’s recommended planners, to get the ball rolling. Despite the short planning period, everything fell beautifully into place with Emily’s help. In the days leading up to the wedding, Gabriela and Todd’s guests enjoyed football on the beach, golf, snorkeling, and relaxation at the Elbow Beach spa.
When the big day finally arrived, Gabriela was excited and anxious, hoping for a day of perfection.
“It was amazing,” she recalls. “The ceremony was so beautiful. Everyone looked stunning, and the most special moment was when a beautiful rainbow appeared while we were exchanging our vows. It was so unexpected and special.”
Nature’s beauty was accented by the floral wedding arch, Gabriela and her wedding party’s flower crowns, and the bride’s corsage all designed by Michelle Geary of Flowers by GiMi.
“Michelle was phenomenal,” says Gabriela. “She was able to bring my vision to life.”
Still riding high from the beautiful ceremony, the newlyweds and their friends and family celebrated at a beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean at Elbow Beach’s Lido Complex. The guests were surprised with a Gombey show after the couple cut the cake, and they enjoyed an incredible meal prepared by the Lido Complex team.
“The cake was delicious and looked beautiful,” Gabriela recalls. “It was chic, sophisticated, and just wonderful. Chef Serge Bottelli and the whole team were wonderful; they did everything just the way I wanted.”
The couple stayed on in Bermuda for their honeymoon, enjoying a getaway at Rosewood Tucker’s Point. Though their careers keep them busy, Gabriela and Todd enjoy making one another a priority.
“When nothing else in the world matters except for being with my wife and my kids, I know I am the luckiest man on the planet,” says Todd.
